We study Okinawa Shorin Ryu Matsumura Seito Karatedo & Kobujutsu weaponry as founded by the late Soken Hohan O'sensei and that was taught to Akamine Yoshimatsu-sensei of Okinawa, Japan. We practice traditional open hand kata and weaponry with an emphasis on practical self-defense applications (bunkai). We do not engage in tournament karate and/or point sparring. We accept male and female students generally from the ages of 16 and older. Younger students may train depending on maturity level. The founder of the Imperial Crane Martial Arts dojo and Senior Black Belt Instructor is Paul A. Sabota who is celebrating his 33rd year in Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karatedo & Kobujutsu. Sabota holds a Kiyoshi certificate (teaching license).
